Transparent Solar Cells

Conversion efficiency of solar cells is small and it needs more space to install solar panels or collectors to produce scale-able electric power. The potential of solar energy is enormous that’s why a lot the design of more and more efficient system is a hot topic of research in the field of energy and power.  

A lot of surface area is required to expose solar converters to sun in order to produce electricity. Skyscrapers are very attractive options, as lot of surface area is associated with them and they are exposed to sun for many time of day from different orientations. In order to utilize the available surface area of skyscrapers transparent solar cells are required which are produced and tested as well. Although these cells are a little in efficiency as compared with other cells but still very useful.

Another major use of these solar cells is in future mobile phones, by making front glass with transparent solar panels the use of external power for charging the battery will be reduced.
